"Waiting room television makes a big difference to my business; I can reach patients when they have time to take on information, in the right place to act on it. I know where uptake in treatments and products have come from by listening to my patients."
Dr Murphy, The Dental Surgery, Clifton, Bristol.
"As a busy PM, I know that my media service sorts itself out; it's fully managed, up to date and supported. It even powers on and off automatically, set to any times I choose."
Ms P Duncan, Practice Manager, Regency Dental Practice, Swanage.
"Dentistry is such a personal, precision profession and we see how our patients respond to the understanding they gain from our screen. They readily use digital information as a basis and encouragement to ask about treatments, such as white fillings and crowns. It's great that our patients can be comfortable in this way and really adds to what I can offer."
Dr Shahrzad Yaganeh, Fairwater Dental Practice, Cardiff
"Our patients say our waiting room TV is very informative and a really helpful way to find out about what they could have done. This can be especially good for nervous patients, to see what treatments are like, how they happen and the differences they make (eg white fillings) and has increased the take up of treatments including crowns."
Dr M Othaman, Charlton Park Dental Surgery, Bristol.
"We have recently refurbished and our patients have definitely noticed the new digital screen. They have said the education content is interesting and helpful and the film clips are entertaining."
Hamida Rahman, Practice Manager, TLC Dental Practice, London.
"We had an immediate increase in requests about treatment; including two enquiries about whitening treatment the day after our waiting room television was turned on."
Mrs H Precelton, Practice Manager, A&H Dental Care, Warwick.
"The service is excellent and is very low maintenance day-to-day from our point of view. Our waiting room television prompts patient enquiries which result in uptake; we have noticed an increase in treatments of white fillings, crowns and whitening treatments and requests about implant treatment."
Dr Hendrick, Sandon Dental Practice, Chester
"We would definitely recommend this digital media service to other independent practices with a business to build. It's effortless, ongoing and part of our practice."
Hayley Pearson, Practice Manager, Bristol Dental Practice.
Do I need a TV license?
No you do not need a TV licence, however if you are using a domestic TV you may need to write to the authority confirming it is not being used as a TV.
My practice already has a TV, can it be used?
Yes, the service is designed so you can use existing TVs but it will need to be a standard wide screen TV (16:9) and have either of the following digital component inputs: HDMI or DVI. These are standard inputs for modern screens. Any concerns about compatibility just call us
Is there any sound/audio?
No the programme is silent, the research has proven two things; 1. from the patients perspective they can choose to watch the screen, but if there was sound they have no choice to listen. 2. as most screens are often located near the reception staff, the repetitive sound would result in them either turning it off or muting anyway. Also because there is no audio you will not require a PPL or PRS licence for the service
We have two waiting rooms and want a screen in both, can this be done?
Yes we have done this for a number of customers. You simply need a second set top box, the cost for this is £12.00 + VAT per month per additional set top box.
How do I personalise the TV?
You will be given a user name and password to access the members portal of the SmileVision website. From here you can personalise the channel with relevant videos from the library. To see how easy it is to use please book a free demo with one of the team.
How does it use our practice internet and will be affected?
The service will continue running even if the internet goes down. The set top box downloads and stores the content, which ensures the service runs even if a connection is lost. The programme is not streamed (no buffering) but can be updated in real time. This also means it will not affect the speed of your connection (as standard we schedule the updates to download overnight)
What is included in the service?
The service includes: a set top box, automatic updates, members access to the content library and personalisation tools (via simple user interface), remote support and proactive monitoring.
Can you provide and install a screen for me?
We do not provide or install TV screens, we can however, recommend a suitable screen for you.
How often does the content update?
Your patients will see a fully up to date programme each time they visit. The entertainment and product promotions are regularly updated automatically by us for you, so it will always be fresh and new. You can also personalise the channel with content from the library as often as you like, keeping it relevant for your practice.
What are the screen size options?
The screen size can be whatever is best for your practice, a lot of customers have chosen a 32" to 40" screen.
